Sarath Kumar the He-Man of Tamil films is back with Chatrapathy for Diwali. The actor will be flexing his muscles as the film is yet another action film that targets the family audience and the youth. The movie was shot in Pondicherry, Kumbakonam, Chennai and Tuticurin.
Like Chatrapathy Sivaji who occupies a place in Indian history, Sarath’s character also is synonymous with bravery and has a do-gooder image. He fights the evil in the society and brings peace and spreads good-will without being preachy.

Chatrapathy is produced under the banner JJ Good Films and is directed by debutante Sri Mahesh. He was an assistant to many leading directors before he ventured out to be an independent director. He says that there are some true life incidents woven into the story that makes it more believable.

The hero has a secret identity revealed much later in the film and this forms the crux of the climax. Nikitha of Kurumbu fame is playing Sarath's love interest. She has the right `oomph` and glamour to fit into the role. Rambha appears in an item number which was shot in a Dhabha set. The other songs were picturised on a large scale in Bangkok and Kulu Manali.

There are five villains in Chatrapathy with Pithamagan fame Mahadevan appearing in an important role. Vadivelu, Vasu Vikram, Rajesh, Pyramid Natarajan, Pooja, Saranya, Sabitha Anand are among the cast. Apart from direction Sri Mahesh has written the story, screenplay and dialogues.

Karthik Raja cranks the camera and S.A. Rajkumar scores the music. The movie is produced by Baburaja who had earlier produced Sarathkumar's Arasu.
