I don't know abt chow-chow-marrow.

Lima beans and mochai are different. Mochai in english is called as Field Beans(Red kidney beans)

Doc, nice post. I always had doubt on what is Ridge Gourd. Too many Gourds to remember. All I figured out was Snake gourd and after struggle, bitter gourd.

ash gourd is different from chowchowmarrow.Ash gourd is very big in size but not the chow chow .I think u got confused seeing the light green color for both. :ee:

btw, Are u sure is there a kilangu called raasavalli? :think:

maravaLLi kizhangu is the name I know.. not raasavalli.. :think:

casava roots theriyumaa? Same kizhangu.. we make chips also with it, apart from eating the boiled ones.. :P

Also the javvarisi etc are made using this.. I should know, since about 90% of indian javvarisi is made in my dist.. :P :P My school is surrounded by fields too, and one season they flat out grow only these kizhangu.. very tasty.. :P

You can make sambar using this chowchow. Romba tastyaa irukum. :sm11:

Not true...:nono: Kappa kazhangu is actually a bit longer an thinner than maravalli kezhangu.

chowchow kedaikumma pattams??? if so dont worry.. nalaikku post panraen recipes, try ot, as a side dish, or sambhar or kulambhu, there are many dishes u can try with this vege

Apppa rombha nalla kalichii chow chow a parthen...Chow chow sambhar and koottu vaippanga ...

You can substitute chow chow in place of carrot in sambhar, kootu...

Or else u can put chow chow, carrot , beans together for kadhambha sambhar.

water cress thavira others try pani irukaen... will try this one next time :)

Pattams, today post panraen... no just in Indian stores but also in american stores u get them.. whole coconut, raw mango ellam vangu irupaangalae, antha sectionla mostly irukkum :)

Senai kilangu - Yam also looks likes this and this called a selephant yam whereas the first one in u'r quote is yam.

Collard greens and Kale - I have used them like spinach for sambar or plain-cooked spinach..

Water cress & swiss chard.. usually use it for stirfry (with some meat for me.. but not necessary, you can use tofu also)..

Comes out good... :P

Ethukellam tamil per theriyathu teena. :(

Entha keerai ellam, pasi paruppu, thengai pottu koottu pannalam.

Water cress, Swiss chard - thuvaram paruppu curry pannalam.

U can also prepare channa dal(kondai kadalai) curry with swiss chard. Collard greens tastes mostly like Murungai keerai.

Have anyone tried Broccoli rabes.
