I am only aware of HP ze series, and Dell Inspirons. HP ze series sucks big time in heat sinking, the power connector design is very poor :p: defenitely not the one for very rough use. The laptop is pretty light for its size.

Dell Inspirons are very good in heat sinking if maintained properly and under normal conditions. pretty reliable I feel. But it is bit pretty bulky compared to its peers. Dell Latitudes are pretty good and lighter in comparison. The performance too was very good.

Don't have much idea on Compaq models. Just my 2 cents from my personal experience with laptops.
