I clearly, clearly remember there being a thread for Indian'ish songs :oops: but I guess it's been taken down. A few of you folks liked the Indian part being played in the Lions vs Hyenas video, so I'm guessing (hoping, more like!) that you guys might enjoy these few songs as well. These songs rank among my favs of all time, across all genres.

1. Rame by Snap, featuring Rukmani (http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Fusion_snap-rame-Rukmani)

2. Night in Lenasia, by Nitin Sawhney (http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Fusion_Night-In-Lenasia)

3. Mausam, by Nitin Sawhney (http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Fusion_NitinSawhne y-Mausam)

4. Letting Go, by Nitin Sawhney (http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Fusion_NitinSawhne y---LettingGo)

5. Vangarde-Orissa, by Nitin Sawhney (http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Fusion_Vangarde-Orissa)

6. Punjab, by Karunesh (http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Karunesh---Punjab)

7. Nadhiya, by Nitin Sawhney (http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=Nitin-Sawhney---Nadhiya)<----- my favorite of all

If you want to save these audio files, and you're using Firefox, do the following:

1. Right click anywhere in the page outside the media player in the browser
2. Click on "Page Info"
3. Click on the "Media" tab
4. Scroll down till u see the wmv file (listed as an "Embedded" type)
5. Save it
6. Change the extension from "wmv" to "mp3" although your media player will still play it either way
7. Enjoy!

Really glad to see you guys are enjoying this stuff :-). I know Narayana likes this kinda music, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Shy's and Chingi's responses :ee:. I will post more such songs, should I come across any new ones, and I encourage you guys to do the same. This stuff beats rap and hiphop by miles.

BTW, I always thought it was "Swaroopa sundara sujana ranjana roopa"...

Narayana, the violin pieces sound familiar to the movie Rhythm's BGM's :think: dint like the way the track ended though, kind of spoilt the mood of the song maintained all through the song.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I remember a lovely instrumental from an album called 'Music for Romance', the cassette used have a blue-black cover. The music was composed by Louis Banks. THe first track in Side A used to be damn good. The track title is 'Raga of the Heart' was almost 8 minutes long. Anyone has that song :think: its a wonderful fusion song. Somehow remembered this song seeing the song title of the track Narayana posted.
One of first songs that sparked my interest in fusion is the club remix of A Love Supreme (http://sg1.allmusic.com/cg/smp.dll?link=o1zgq7p5ir0ngpzg8 yvjc4h&r=64.ra).
"INCREDIBLE INDIA"
A incredible album of the artistes who are born Indian and are leaving their mark on the international music. A.R. Rahman, Nitin Sawhney, Anoushka Shankar, Talvin Singh are the privileged ones.
Just right-click on the windows media player as the song is being played, and click on properties to get the link to the mp3 file directly from their server.
It might change, but here is a (random?) link (http://uploadfile.putfile.com/getfile/116652db-b-8473slash0b7360089videoc79-hsslash35119153744.mp3) to the song.
I think Bhagayada Laxmi had great potential to be one of my favorite songs, but as Narayana put it, Chowta put in more instrumentation than was necessary.
I really like the instrumental bit (http://media.putfile.com/Instrumental-12) from 1:59 to 2:15. Sounds very A.R Rahman'ish.
PS: Talvin Singh is one of my favorite artistes. It was one of his songs - Jaan - that led me to the beautiful world of fusion music.
One of the best intros to a song (http://media.putfile.com/Ye-Mausam---Buddha-Bar) that I've ever heard.
Love how the tabla just takes off.
I remember the first time I heard this, many years back when it first came out. I nearly stabbed myself when I heard the "summa sollattum" (?) part. It's nice in some parts, but they keduthufied the song by adding the carnatic stuff.
