Programming with C ''Schaums series'' This is a good book for beginners... I used this long back.

There are many free ebooks on C with better examples, most of them are from US universities.

dinesh,
try this (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0596001177/103-1705129-7796630?v=glance&n=283155). a friend of mine had the book, was pretty decent. should match your requirements though.

The way I picked up C# (and other programming languages like C++, Java, Perl etc) is through the numerous tutorials/videos online. The only book I used for C# is from O'Reilly which I think is decent.
