It is being insensitive to the occasion!! Can they imagine doing the same thing to Australian PM? Elder figures, leaders of nation deserve respect because they earned it. If one does not give it in full public view, it is disrespect.

Ponting apologizing is one thing. But every board should senstise their players about the conventions when they are visiting a foreign nation.

Cheers

Ponting is a shmuck. Did you see the way he gestured to Pawar to hand over the trophy? If I were Pawar, I would have said "slow down, you dumbass."

See that's the thing. Everyone in India is screaming "Off with their heads!! How could they humiliate us!!!" and all that crap. But that's not going to help us. In the next tournament (and the next...) we'll be humiliated on the playing field again. Sure, there's always sportsmanship and whatnot, but let's first focus on fixing our problems before deriding the champions for their rude behavior.

The issue is not cricket supremacy. They are undisputed champions of Cricket at the moment. But that does not give them right to show disrespect to administrators. Even if India reins in supreme and disses another eminent peronality like Pawar, my response will be the same. Show respect to the person handing out the trophy you won. As much you worked hard to win the trophy, the other person worked hard to reach the podium in a different way.

Cheers
