Oh, thankooo Sruti... What brand Pizza sauce do you use? I am going to try it for the first time, so will go with the same brand that you use..

Will this turn out to be like thin-crust pizza? The crispy ones? Those are my favorite.. :sm11: :sm11:

Sweet pepper is the bell pepper (kudamulagai) right? Want to make sure.. ;)

Where do you buy Mozzerella cheese from? Any grocery store?

Sri

Sruti

Pizza sauce brand name - Primo pizza sauce (Hot & Spicy) avlb in grocery store or even in wallmart in can section

Yup it will be very thin than the regular thin crust pizza...it will be very crispy/nice..

ya its the same bell pepper....

ya u can get the cheese from any grocery store or even in wallmart..either you can get the cheese in thick form or in grated form...if u dnt hve time thn get the grated one...

For crispyness u have to eat it immediately after taking it off from oven. If you leave it for sometime it will become very soft and like sponge that won't be fine :b:

She also knows and have done ordinary pizza with dough made by herself ....if you want she can upload that also ;)

Sruti, how many wraps do you use as base? Here I've seen all Desi makkals skipping Gujju-store chappatti and going for Mexican whole-wheat tortillas and one of my friend from Dallas was even recommending me to skip the Gujju-stores and go with Mexican.. So, if it's that thin, would it hold all the ingredients on top?

Ada paavamae.. I was even willing to pay shipping.. Appadiyum internet parcel thaana? hm... :snooty:

to make pizza dough

Ingredients

2 cups of All purpose flour
1 tbsp corn meal

1/2 - 1 tsp salt
1 tbsp yogurt
1 tbsp sugar
3 tsp of Veg/Olive oil

1 tbsp active dry yeast avlb in bottle/packets in grocery store (best one ->Fleischmann)
1 cup of water
a pinch of baking soda (optional)

Method:

Mix the yeast in 3/4 cup of luke warm water along with sugar and leave it for 10-15 mnts..It will bcme frosty...thts means the yeast had been actvd... keep the rmng 1/4 cup of water aside

Mix the Flour with salt (accng to taste),oil, yogurt,a bit of the corn meal, bakng soda along with the yeast mix and if u need more water add the rmng water and make it to a dough(like a chappathi dough)

now the dough is ready...in an oven safe baking dish/pan..grease it first and conver the dough to the pan and thn keep inside the oven just by switching the oven light on9 u dnt hve to preheat the oven)....

you have to allow atleast 4 hrs in oven so that the dough increase in size..if u want u can cover the dough with a wet cloth ..agn optional..it will prevent it from drying...in the total 4 hrs ..after 2 hrs take the dough out ..kneed the dough again and thn keep the dough inside the oven.... and after the next 2 hrs take the dough out kneed the dough and thn put in vessel with a lid and keep it fridge for an hour..it will make the dough little bit strong and u will be able to roll the dough...

and the toppings is as per u r wish...u can either make 1large pizza or 2 medium or 4 small pizza with the measurments tht I hv gvn...

once the dough has been rolled ..everything else is the same...just the sauce/veg's..keep it in the overn until the crus cooks...

If u need thinn crust ...keep the dough sepe in the oven for 5-10mn tke it out and thn apply the sauce veg's and keep it again in the oven....

If u need soft crust u dnt hve to keep the dough in the oven initially....

if u guys hve any q's...plz let me knw..sorry for the typo's.....

normally on the tortilla pizza ..once the pizza is done u can just sprinkle little bit of salt on top if u want..bt u can also hve without salt...all depends on u r taste bud pa...

Sauce namme ooru alavaku spicy ya lam erukathu pa..so u can try with the spicy one also.....karame erukathu....it will takste more like a tomato paste with garlic and herbs...

pannitu sollunge ..epdi vanthuthunu..just do one wrap first/taste it and thn go on with the rmng tortilla wraps....

let me know how it goes too paattee :)

i used to make something sort-of-similar a long time ago as a lazy-snack - as it was a snack, the base was a slice of bread. i would have these pieces of sundried tomatoes (i think i preferred "semi-sundried" had a brighter nicer red colour to it) - i would put a few on the slice of bread, sometimes a bit of finely chopped onion, and almost always a few slices of jalapeno chillis (i think that's what it's called:confused:...it was pre-chopped for me so all i had to do was place it on the bread... they looked like chillis, but the green colour was more pale compared to the green chillis used in desi cooking ;) ). then sprinkle cheese, grill, then eat (not quite immediately, but not 15 minutes later either) :). sometimes i'd run my knife through the sundried tomatoes (even though they are small enough pieces/slices/whatever), just to release their flavour and spread them out over the bread - i don't like to add sauce or the yummy taste of the sundried tomato will be overpowered :( )

and there's my recipe for the year :) i think i will run away now before i confuse myself anymore :ee:

My tortilla pizza tasted great but was not at all crisp.... :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

What did I do wrong? I let it inside the oven for just over 15 minutes until the cheese turned golden and took it out.. waited for it to cool down a bit and one bite and it's soft... :( :( Arrgghh....

I used 100% wheat tortilla and all the ingredients that you had listed... I used one tortilla as a base and applied sauce, veggies, olives and then covered it with Mozzerella cheese.. Pre-heated the oven for 15 minutes and Pizza was inside the oven for 15 minutes...

:( :(

Sri....i think u should not preheat the oven for crispier crust....should directly place on the rack and bake....just saw the instruction on the boxed pizza in my fridge....:)

Sri,

Oven le enthe side heating on paninege..

i thnk there are 2 optns...1.top 2 bottom heating 2.bottom to top heating

so nege ethe select panni eruthengena...

u shld select the bottom to top heating tht will make the tortilla crispier....and keep it in the bottom tray of u r oven..even after the cheese melts and the tortilla turns to light brown color if it is not crispy u can leave the tortilla for few more mnts and thn u can try it out...

There is no top-down approach, bottom-up approach, side-to-side approach in my oven.. It has only one knob with the temp settings.. So, I had turned it to 350..

Maybe like Yaso says I should not have pre-heated the oven.. the coils are in the bottom and it would have poruchified the tortilla.. Hm.. maybe next time..
