Ingredients :
Rice Flour - 1 1/2 cups Channa Dhal - 1 tbsp
Salt - 3/4 tsp Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Chilly Powder - 1 tsp Water - 1 1/2 cups
Asafetida - 1/4 tsp Oil - to deep fry
Heat up the water in a deep, heavy bottomed pan. When it starts to boil, add the channa dhal, salt, cumin, salt, chilly powder and asafetida. Boil further for a couple of minutes. Remove from the fire / heat and stir in the rice flour. Mix well and set aside for a few minutes to cool down. Then, take small ball sized amount of the dough, roll it as a long string in the palm and join the edges firmly. Prepare the entire dough into rings like this and then heat up the oil in a deep kadai. When hot, deep fry the rings until crisp and golden brown in color. Deep fry in batches of 10 - 12 rings at a time. Drain off the excess oil in paper towels or tissues.
