Seperation of Boys and Girls !!

Do you support seperation of boys and girls in schools in tamil nadu ?

Do you think that seperate schools for boys and schools still serve the purpose ??

Shud it be continued ??

Or do you think it is time to allow the free mixing of sexes right from young age

in schools... ??

Please post your opinion. :sm03:

Separation of boys and girls is very bad... i have personally seen many cases of guys coming from boys only schools to co-ed schools becoming alanja cases... and many spoilt their career and studies by roaming after girls... i dont mean guys shudnt run after girls, i have done that several times in school myself ;) ;) ;) but then one shud also know their responsibilities and act accordingly... exam annaikku kooda figure kkaaga yengikittu irundha apeettu thaan... luckily i am from a co-ed ;) ;) ;)

Yes. Men and Women should be seperated forever till they get married.
Put veils on everybody and whip anybody who tries to break the rules.
Infact split the country into half, and put men in one half and women into the other. Then we'll have no problems. And everybody will live happliy ever after.

I've opted the second choice.. there should be no separate schools.. Sabeshan is correct about the guys and girls who come from boy schools or girls school.. All the schools must be co ed.. infact even colleges should start being co ed.. Most of the Colleges in tamilnadu(Ethiraj, stella marys, meenakshi) should become co ed...

Cheers

Dunno abt Tamil Nadu ...I went to a mixed /co-ed from nursery/kindergarten till I was 11yrs old...then from that age I attended a Girl school till uni.....
I din't turn out that bad ...I think
Mind u the boy school was kinda next door...so it wasn't absolute segragation....they did manage to sneak through the gates...
We shared a few general studies and philo lessons after the age of 16
I think it was nice....I got the best of both worlds
A young girl while growing up would be provided with enough encouragement and moral strength to stand up on her own in this society in a girl school...while she wouldn't receive such attention in a mixed school. (I did have a very strong woman as headmistress though...she was no wimp)
If I ever manage to reproduce...the little pests are gonna be sent straight to a girl school.

Almost a year and half past since this topic was started and hardly a page of responses :Ksp: thats baaaad. So I am reviving this topic again for discussion.

I feel there shud'nt be any seperation between boys and girls. As sabeshan said earlier, I too have seen my batchmates(my college batchmates, when I did my engineering back in TN) becoming 'alanja cases'. I don't say guys or girls from co-ed don't talk, get into affairs or anything, they do go a little too overboard(alteast most of the cases I've seen).

Ok, I didn't really read the other posts in here (I will, very soon, I promise!), so if I repeat anything some other fellow posted, don't beat me up.

I feel that boys and girls should NOT be segregated!!! I went to a boys-only school from 7th to 10th grades, and jeez, it made interaction with the ladies a lot more harder than I would have imagined when I began my 11th...but cools prevailed in the end :ee: !!! Jokes, this, that...I pity my Gulf-raised brothers...poor guys literally had no interaction with girls throughout their education (although coming to USA did make fine "gentlemen" out of them :P!)...

What is gained by segregating both the sexes? Does it help reduce distraction etc? I think not!

On a more serious note..

Segragation is a thing of the past. Its death bells have long tolled by reality than by philosophy.. Girls have to work - along with guys.. and the gender differences are wiped clean by such requirements.

For once the course of nature, and economical evolution aids in cultural growth.. :b:

i never saw this topic b4.. so its good u opened it :D ;)

i totally dont agree of this segregration.... coz eventually.. in reality, in the outside world u have to interact and communicate and work with ppl of different sex and age and size and everythin....:D

ive been in a girls school (convent school :ahha:) from yr 1 till o'levels ... no interactions with guys except cuz and prob neighbours and family frens... then went to college where u meet all type of ppl.... i thought it would be difficult... coz for some reason girls from girl schools r perceived wrongly... but i seem to be quite at home with the boys ;) :ahha: ... i get along with guys better than girls...:D ... ok... better stop my useless history... all in all... shud never seperate guys n gals.. why shud u.... i dont get the point in there :D

I dint quite get your point blue

well let me try to explain it to you then

I believe that children between the ages of 11 and 18 years should go to single sex schools.
The benefits can be seen in the school league tables of England and Wales. Single sex schools, be they state or public, consistantly do better in the league tables and send far more students to the top universities than mixed schools, (exceptions will always exist).
In Girl schools, girls learn to value themselves and gain a lot of self-esteem. The drive and knowledge of their self worth that they show is usually incomparable to that exhibited by girls the same age attending mixed schools.
I went to girl schools, and neither I nor my schoolmates ever had any troubles working along and socialising with boys/guys/men :ahha: .

what I'n saying is that at the end of the day, in a girl school a young girl will be provided with all the tools necessary to achieve any goals she set herself. The same girl in a mixed school would have it a lot tougher.

we never had any teenage pregnancies, at least 80% of us went to higher education after A-levels....this may not be the same in a mixed school!

sorry mate ...I can't do better than this

of course the world outside the gates is mixed, but single sex education does not mean that you become an introverted moron devoid of any social graces :Ksp:

all I'm saying that for your daughters....girl schools would have far more advantages than disadvantages :ee: They'll be brilliant little imps

Maybe they should then continue to be segregated forever then. Obviously that will be a good thing cos they will always continue to value themselves and also keeping on gaining self esteem until they burst. They will be even more driven that even Bernie will let them drive one of those ridiculously fast and fragile contraptions (in a segregated environment, of course), and obviously their knowledge will increase even more.

Or simply the history has been so that sexes were seperated in secondary education until the recent past the results derived from studies are very unreliable because of the unevenly dispersed data that you can't conclude anything sensible from that. But surely that can't be true :ahha:

It should be co-education.....People should be happy only in school and college days....So it will be fun and you have advantage of mixing...well in the society later..........anyway we have to face people of both sex later...y to play hide and seek...I don't see any reason to seperate....girls and boys... :b:

:ee: I was reminded of something mummy used to say :ahha:
"padikira vayusula padikaama, eppa padipangalaam" :ahha:

I'm sorry but I fail to see how going to seprate schools isolates the sexes :?
Jeez it's not like they don't mix outside school? don't they mix at home, in parks, in youth clubs, Thamil schools, at the temple, music classes, music concerts, riding schools? the list is endless
separate schools doesn't and really never has meant complete isolation of the two sexes :Ksp:

and as I said earlier...but let me reiterate myself anyway...single sex schools does not create socially inept morons

and we never played hide and seek after year 3 or sumthing :? :ahha:

out of curiosty why should people be happy only during school and college days :00: what is supposed to happen afterwards
