It was a scene where Muthupandi, to his chagrin, sees his daughter entering the village with her lover in tow. While the whole village abuses her, for the girl was already married to another man, Muthupandi, the village bigwig, also abuses his daughter.

At this, the tearful girl tells her father that it was her husband who had asked her to fetch her lover. "That can never be possible," says an angry Muthupandi, tears rolling down his eyes. And when the daughter demands to know how he can be so sure, he replies that her husband was already dead. The stunned girl laments and cries over her husband's death.
