No Shy Akka, It's not that bad...

I know it looks like a museum rather than a temple...but I attended one of their pujas it was actually quite nice.

It was the first time I went to a North Indian Temple...It was a bit different from the one in my local temple...but u still get a good spiritual experience.
The only odd thing ...is that they had statues of gurus and other ppl to which they also did a puja ....I think it's actually Jain..although Hindus go there too on a regularly basis.

very calm , lovely feeling at other times too...it's a wonderful place to just go sit and think

Maintained by volunteers...in fact I remember hearing that it ws built by volunteers.

There's also a Swaminarayanan school...private..... a pretty good school..they really do concentrate on religious education a lot though, even the youngest can recite all sort mantras by heart....one of my classmate switched to that school, when it opened...although a mixed school as in co-ed...

All in all a nice temple.
I like it a lot
Priyam have u been??
btw really cool pics :b: thnx dudette.

Suha...the temple is in London ma (like Shy has mentioned).
The feeling is really something...really cultural....really beautiful! :P

Shy...it's a grand looking temple...and differs from our temples, that I agree...but when you go in...the feeling is soooooo peaceful.....it's a fantastic place for meditation cos' it gives you a sense of tranquility...free's your mind & lightens your heart..!!!! :sm05:

Blues...yeap I have been lots of times... ;)

Unique...it's well maintained...you're correct...and they're really strict about keeping the temple spotless clean! :?

This temple was built by people belonging to all castes/religions/nationalities. Not only a lot of money but a looooooot of hard work has been invested in this, as it was purely hand-made & hand crafted. Each pillar/piece/art-work shows not only the expense but also shows dedication of the people behind the creation:

In regard to our temples (South Indian temples), there's many in the UK. Sri Venkateswara Temple - under construction....and is going to be the 2nd most biggest temple in the UK.
Also, Sri Murugan Temple - under construction...the plans look great...the Raja Gopuram is up already!

The temples in the UK serves food 7 days a week...and there's always food available for every and anyone who enters the temples. Perumal temples offer laddu as well as other sweets! :D

The Food given at the European Temples..are known as Prasad over here
the way it works is that :
every day for morning, midday or evening Pujas...
a member of the public will provide the money for the puja and the food...cos it will be carried out in their name.

So in fact Shy Akka enngal Koyil-il overu naalum overu pujay-mudiyaa baktargallukku unavu kudukka paddum...normal occurrence

ppl now see this as a way of socialising after ur worship...

You ask the question and you give the answer. I'll give out food through donations, and everything the temple earns (plus the amounts I "lift" from the donations) will be for the "company". I'll run the "company" like Surya in pithamagan :sm12:

There are lots of money making opportunities in temples. You only have to be creative. People will spend without checking if it's for "God" :sm12:
