[highlight=blue:de62bae485]Net Vision - Collection of Pics from Web[/highlight:de62bae485]

Daily we come across many pics of places, people and events that capture the eye and mind. Pics that make you smile, or drool, or feel uplifted or in some ways makes the day little more pleasant. Not just beautiful photos - but beautiful things as photos as well...

I will keep posting new photos here, in this thread. The readers are welcome to post their collections too.. But just to manage the numbers, please post only one pic per day (any person can post - but each must post only one per day). Also, if there are more than several people posting on that day, perhaps you might want to wait for the next day.

Please include some commentary on why you think the pic is beautiful and why it affected you enough to make you want to share it with all your friends in Geetham. Please follow these suggestions, so every one would get a chance to appreciate and participate. Have a nice day, folks.. !

Very predictably my first photo is that of Ms. Aishwarya Rai.. :P This is a beautiful pic, because I believe Ms. Rai is not consciously smiling for the camera and, while she knows she is being taped or photographed, she makes do as though she is distancing herself from that. The photo was taken on a function to promote L'Oreal in India. She is the Brand Ambassodor for their products.

What is beautiful? Aish on a close up - eyes on a close up.. Truly gorgeous!

Actors/actresses are beautiful, however for me nature and the love of that is more grandeur :P :P

The beauty of nature, the natural world, Mother Nature, Mother Earth, the environment (for me) is simply magnificent.... :sm03:

PS: Thanks Vasan...very good topic :sm08:

The 40th President of USA, Mr. Ronald Wilson Reagan died in his sleep on 06/05/2004 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Hailed as an unfailingly courteous man, Mr. Reagan left behind a legacy of ending Cold War and soaring economy. His landslide victory in 1980 is as much historic as the gracious manner of his leading and retirement. A nation mourns for one of the best loved of its Presidents.

Watching Keeney at right, is Jim Connaughton, a senior White House environmental advisor. The geodetic marker is the first of its kind under the ocean, according to officials, and defines an area of Molasses Reef restored in 2003 following a 1984 ship grounding that pulverized 16,683 square feet of live coral.

US Army troops of the 1st Cavalry division's 2nd Battalion salute as the Stars and Stripes flag is lowered to half-mast, during a dawn ceremony in which the Iraqi flag was raised for the first time at a base in south eastern Baghdad on June 29, 2004. The battalion shares the base with Iraq's National Guard. The United States handed over sovereignty to an interim Iraqi government on Monday, two days before the schedule, in a surprising move probably aimed at thwarting any terrorist attempts.

Sunsets

Sunsets are the most beautiful things! An event that occurs at the end of each day, an event that most of us hardly stop to look at. Each sunset seems to be different from the rest. Each appears to have its own mood/personality. Below are some pictures of sunsets. You'll see what I mean.

7 September 2004 (Every year)

Mumbai celebrates the birth of Krishna, one of the cheekier Hindu gods, with lots of pots of yoghurt....and human pyramids.

Lord Krishna, an incarnation of the Hindu God Vishnu, combines light-hearted mischievousness with omnipotence. His childhood was spent flirting with milkmaids and stealing butter kept beyond his reach by his parents. On his birthday, the enthusiastic residents of Mumbai string pots of curd and butter between buildings and the brave form human pyramids to get at them, so mimicking his exploits.

Not just him, Afghanistan's dressing was pretty modern (atleast thats how media shows) before the Russian invasion in the late 70s. There was a video cools posted a month or two back regarding women in Afghanistan, that shows a few seconds how the country was before 79.

I'm pretty fascinated by the fact that at that time, he would never have known what kind of a tyrant he would become 25 years later.

Wonder what kinda tyrant I'll be 20 years from now. :ahha:

Mistress looks nice. Only thing is the story is not 'main stream' and Chitra could be overly into mysticism in her writings.. and it would be hard to translate it into screen...

will see..

A photo from a camera with pictures that had been taken on the trade building of a tourist and the plane is heading behind him to hit the building. The camera was found by rescue workers and developed.
It is hard to believe it when you see it and wonder if the person taking the picture realized the plane was going to hit the center. They still don't know who the person is.
