    Default Shortbread

    Shortbread

    Ingredients:

125g butter (use real butter for yummier shortbread )
    180g flour
    55g sugar

    Method:

    1) pre-heat oven 190C
    2) beat sugar and butter together till it becomes pale.
(cheat version: melt butter slightly in MWoven and beat in the sugar )
    3) sift the flour into the buttery paste, and stir till you get a smooth dough
    4) place it on a lightly floured work surface, and gently knead it.
    5) roll it out into a 1 inch thick sheet, cut it into various shapes, springle sugar on top
    6) place on buttered baking tray and bake for 15-20 min

tip1:remember shortbread is meant to be butter coloured

tip2: if you don't get a smooth dough, n it starts breaking ...add more butter

tip3: if you can't be bothered, order them from "walkers" http://www.walkersshortbread.com/

The simple folks call it butter cookies..

More descriptive than short bread, don't ya think..

Is there a long bread?? And why-oh-why is it bread?? Shouldn't breads be different from cookies?? (Not biscuits please.. those are what you eat for breakfast, preferably with bit of butter or honey)..

    BK madam.. thanks..

ps: With that name, I have really gone overboard, haven't I?
