    Fish Bone Soup

    Yup, you read it right, its the recipe for fish bone soup. Tried it this weekend after I caught the 32 Lbs Striped Bass fish. For those who want to see what I caught :D

    Recipe:

    Fish Bones - 3 Lbs
    Onions - 2 Big Size
    Celery - 3 stalks
    Garlic - 5 cloves
    Baby Carrots - 10 pieces
    Ginger - 1/2 inch cube
    Green Chilli - 4 medium size
    Turmeric - 1/4 tspn
    Parsley Leaves - as necessary
    Salt - as necessary
    Water - 10 cups

    - Slice the onions into strips.
    - Cut the celery stalks into 2 inch strips
    - Slit the baby carrots into two
    - Slit the Green chillies
    - Saute' the onion in oil.
    - Once the onion becomes light yellow in color, add crushed garlic, sliced ginger, green chillies, celery and baby carrots and saute' for 2 minutes.
    - Add turmeric powder and the fish bones and saute' for 2 more minutes.
    - Add 10 cups of water (for clear soup) and stir it well.
    - Close the lid and cook in medium heat for 30 minutes
    - Add parsley leaves, stir it well, close the lid and cook it for 5 more minutes

    Serve hot with crushed pepper and croutons. Goes well with white rice.

    stupid kelvi : do you actually mean pounds of bones and not fish in the soup?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Yas, do you mean how to clean fish?
    clean a huge area around the kitchen sick, cos it'll get very messy
    Wear marygold/yellow kitchen gloves while doing it, cos your hands will smell
    1)fist you grab a small knife (like a steak knife).
    2)scrub the fish ' skin gently going against the scales.
    3)This will remove the scales.
    4)then using a pair of strong kitchen scissors, cut all the fines and tail..
    5) using a strong sharp knife, cut into the fish's side (the bottom side margin)
    6) gut the fish, meaning take all the intestines, liver kidneys, etc out with your hands.
    7) wash fish very thoroughly.
    8 ) cut into transverse pieces, done
    fish cleaning doesn't have to be messy.
    put fish in a transparent plastic bag, and then de-scale it inside the bag.
    This means that the scales will not fly everywhere, and the kitchen is clean.
    My mum got me a book on how things are done in the kitchen from the "reader's digest" comapny one xmas
    So the above trick is from them.
    I really dont know what it means. MN - Meenava Nanban. What is PM - Paamara Makkal'a
    Fish Cleaning:
    First advice. Dont do it inside the house. If you dont have a backyard, dont catch fishes
    I did it outside in the lawn.
    Trust me, it was so tough to clean the fish in 5 Deg Celcius outside temperature Somehow managed to take of the scales and fillet'd it perfectly. Then managed to chop of most of the meat from the bones.
    Vasan, neenga East Coast varumbothu sollunga, I will take you for this fishing. We go on a boat to the Atlantic Ocean ;-) not too far from the shore though.
