Pak is a very inconsistent team as of now. So I think they do not have any chance.

    Aussies lost again
...that too with 336 runs on board avamaanam. Brad Hodge is one unlucky soul to miss his maiden ODI century so close again!

WI or Srilanka won't get through for sure. Pakistan is pretty inconsistent case, so donno what form they are in

SA is one of the in-form teams, their batting is as good as their bowling is. If their current form maintains, NZ might scrape through to the semis.

with the current form, semis probables: Aus, SA, India, NZ and England.

Aussies lost once again, this time with a total of 346 on board. Kiwis made a clean sweep in Chappelle-Hadlee trophy. So the last international match before the world cup is over.

NZ are giants in their soil but outside they will surely suck. They mainly won against Aussies with the help of small grounds. They are going to suck in WI I am sure. They will not win the cup. SA may win!

I dont think India has performed that bad this year. Donno if they can defend the cup, surely has chances to get into semis. Pakistan seems to be the one who is highly inconsistent.

They mainly won against Aussies with the help of small grounds.
Cmon how could ground size be a factor. If NZ can hit that distance, so could Aus. Australian bowling attack is the one to be blamed. Except for Brett Lee rest of the bowling team did goto NZ for the Chappelle-Hadlee series, they werent able to defend a tall total of 336 or 346.

Gilchrist was out of form even in the Commonwealth Bank series. So was Hayden, except for his 181 knock in the 3rd Chappelle-Hadlee match. Except for Hussey and Hodge who are pretty consistent, the Australian top order collapsed towards the end of CB series.

It might look lame but it is an important factor. Remeber Greatbatch he was the hitter for NZ few years ago he hits everyhting cleanly in NZ soil but otherwise it will be 'otherwise' The other main factor as u ssaid is Aus did not have important players in their squad.

Cannot say friend,....NZders have very confused minds; cannot judje when they will lose or win,......but a good 1-day side.....let us wait....but, the cup is not for Aussies still all the teams have to work very hard to win Aussies..

It is a pretty open world cup indeed.
With the Aussies losing form (with the return of Ponting and Gilchrist they could be a different team though), all other teams definitely will be a bit more hopeful than they were a month or so ago.
South Africa will be energized with their taking the mantle of the top ODI team in the world.
NZ and England (don't think I saw England being mentioned in this thread) would have gained some momentum after wiping the floor with the Aussies.
India, Pak and WI (especially on their own soil) are always capable of beating any team on their day.
So taking refuge in Lala Amarnath's usual prediction.."Only time will tell"
