    Default VennPongal with MasoorDal(Red Lentil)

    Why don't you try Venpongal with Turdhall(Red Lentil-small)

    Ingredients
    » Rice 1 Cup(Raw)
    » Red Lentil 1/4 Cup
    » Black Pepper 2 Tbsp
    » Zera 2 Tbsp
    » Cury leaves(Karivepillai)
    » Fried Cashew if you want
    » Ghee as reqd
    » Salt to taste

    Process
    Microwave cooking:
    Put Rice and red lentil in a glass bowl or microwave cookware and add 4 to 5 cups of Boiling water.
    Cook Rice & lentil at high for 15 to 20 min.
    Pressurecooker cooking:
    Cook Rice & lentil as you cook.

    In a fry pan add 2 tea spoon Ghee and heat it.
    Add black pepper and fry in ghee for 1min when Pepper is fried add Zera and fry till it gets golden(do not over cook it will spoil the taste).
    Add cury leaves as reqd in the fry pan and fry.Add cashew if you require.
    Once done switch off the stove(cooker)

    When rice and lentil is cooked wait for couple of minues for settle down.
    Add the fried mix with rice/lentil add Ghee & salt as reqd.
    Mix every thing.
    Vennpongal is ready.

    Serve this pongal (hot)with Ulundu vadai(Meduvadai),Chattni,Samba r

    Note:The speciality of this pongal is
    Mr. has to make it and Mrs. has to eat it in the weekends.

    Btw:which type of rice u prefer to cook for pongal....

    I think raw rice (pacha arisi) would be best

    Yaso try pannunga .. as sakthi said.. pacharasi is the best

    eppothum enga veetula pacharisi thaan.. athuvum.. trip or anytime.. curd rice panrache.. wow wow.. wow.. pramathama irukkum..

    -moong dal is payatham payaru (it looks green in it's whole form)

    -red lentils usually refers to mysoor parippu (the normal parippu that you eat every day)

    -Zera must be siragham or jeera

    Red lentil= Koncham orange colourla Tuvaraparuppa vida siriyatha irukkum.

    red lenthil.. masoor dal thanae.. venkadesh.. toor dhal nambo sambharkku use panrathu thaanae? illainaan confuseda

    Sakthi.. moong dal thaan best.. but masoor dal has a very good flavor as venkadesh says.. try it

    moong dhal - yello dal - pasiparuppu without thool, thool yeduthathu... if there's thool it would be green in color okvaaa



    whole moong dhal - green dal - pasi paruppu with thool



    urad dal



    channa dhal - kadalai paruppu



    toor dhal - thuvaram paruppu - sambhar paruppu
