    No not oats kanji... indhaango recipe...

    Par boiled Rice-100 gm
    Wheat-100 gm
    kambu-100 gm
    Ragi-100 gm
    Greengram(pachhai payiru)-100 gm
    potuukadalai(porikadalai)-100 gm
    Nila kadalai(peanut)-30 gm
    cashew nut,
    badam,
    dhalia (optional)
    cardamom,
    sago,
    barley,
    corn flour and
    soya(optl.).

    Dry fry them individually and make a powder

    Mix the mavu in 50 ml of water. Bring 50 ml of water to boil. In that mix the mavu solution, milk & sugar or salt. Make kanji by boiling.

    You can have this as it is or u can mix with fruits like apple, banana, grapes, make pudding out of it.

    kambu, sOlam, thiNai vagaikaL ellaam theriyaathaa?

    kadugu sizela brown color-la irukkum.. ural-la kuththi sappadu seyalaam.. maavaa araichu kaLi seyyalaam.. malt- kooda pottu kudikkalam... with bit of vellam, it tastes so much better than horlicks..

    Unfortunately these days the farmers don't grow them much because they fell out of fashion..

    very tasty though..

    What a surprise.. enga oorrla kooda appadi thaan solluvaanga..

    kambu + soru.. kambusoru --> colloquially kammansoru.. puLichcha keerai kadainchu, kammansoru sappittu.. maththiyaanam oru kutti thookam podarathu thaan finest part of hot summer in Salem..

    thiNai is also another millet variety.. even smaller than kambu in size.. and much paler in color. Taste is little more bland compared to kambu and solam..

    Solam you can even eat it raw - right from the plant. makkaa-solam (our sweet corn) is the largest size in these grains, and ofcourse can be had raw, boiled or grilled.. Even american natives (aka) red indians love corn.. In fact the first ever settlements (before that they were only hunting and moving around the country) were places where they can grow corn..
