Speaking of Perry Mason, I was roaming around Ventura (in southern california), and ran into an office building (old style one) on the prominent shopping area, where Earle Stanley Gardner had his offices and wrote all those novels..

They even have a plaque on the wall, saying this is where Earle Stanley Gardener had his offices from 19--19--..
