Missing You

Like a flower once bloomed on
friendship’s sill,
Your open leaves embraced my
sunny heart
A crystal vase, did my tears and smiles fill,
Watered with songs, promised
we’d never part.
But I went away and remembered no song,
Not a smile, nor a tear; the promise was lost.
In a dry empty shell, you
blossomed not long.
You withered and faded, a violet in frost.
Then I returned and looked for you there
By the window where I thought
you would be.
But to my sadness, the place was bare,
And sorrow, the shame, shall
never leave me.
I ask your forgiveness, but now
you are gone.
Will I ever know again the love
you once shone????
