Earlier Vijayakumar's son-in-law was arrested due to the complaint logged by Vijayakumar following a family dispute. The Chennai suburban police arrested Vanitha Vijayakumar's husband, Anandarajan at his office in Nungambakkam.
Now, Vanitha Vijayakumar has raised a new issue regarding their family dispute. She has accused her father and step-brother for threatening her and her second husband Anandarajan. She has confessed to the media that the police have not reacted properly to her complaint. She also added that the Chennai police is moving the case in favour of her step-brother and her father Vijayakumar.
Moreover she said that Arun Vijay, director Hari - husband of Preetha Vijaykumar, and father Vijaykumar are jealous of her growth as their company Vijay Kumar Video Entertainment is doing good business. Finally she threatened to commit suicide leaving behind a note holding Vijayakumar, Hari and Arun Vijay responsible for it.
The inner family squabbles between Vanitha and Arun Vijay, siblings of popular actor Vijayakumar took a new turn with the city police slapping an attempt-to-murder case against Arun, today.
Police said, acting on a complaint from Former Actress Vanitha, Nungambakkam Police registered a case against Arun for allegedly holding out a threat to his sister.
She lodged a complaint with Chennai City Police Commissioner T Rajendran alleging her brother Arun Vijay had telephoned her and threatened her of dire consequences.
Following a directive from the Commissioner, Nungambakkam Police registered a case against Arun Vijay for issuing murder threats to Vanitha and her family.
After a family feud, Vanitha and her father Vijayakumar approached the city police with separate complaints against each other.
As Vanitha started airing her views in the media, three unidentified men, allegedly at the instance of her brother, visited her house at Nungambakkam and threatened her not to give any interview to the media on the family dispute, she said in her complaint, leading to slapping of case against Arun Vijay.
The family feud involving the siblings came out in the open when Vanitha's husband Anand Rajan was arrested by the Maduravoyal Police on a complaint from Vijayakumar that he was assaulted by Anand for insisting to leave the kids with him for holidays. Not to be outdone, Vanitha, a former Kollywood actress, started washing the dirty linen in public and had lodged a complaint with the Tamil Nadu Director General of Police next day, alleging assault and torture by her father and her actor-brother.
In her complaint, Ms Vanitha said her father and her brother Arun Vijay had assaulted her and her husband when they refused to allow their child to stay with his grandparents.
Vanitha's husband was arrested on November 23 on a complaint from Vijayakumar that he had assaulted him resulting in fracture in his wrist.
He was later remanded in judicial custody.
On coming to know that Vanitha, who had threatened to disclose ''all the secrets of her father,'' had approached the DGP, Vijayakumar and his family moved the court for anticipatory bail, fearing arrest in the case.
Vanitha, too, had filed an anticipatory bail plea as Vijayakumar had lodged a complaint against her also for defaming his image in the public.
In the meanwhile, Anand Rajan was released on bail a couple of days ago and Vanitha had threatened to make all the family details and disputes public. When Vanitha's plea came up for hearing in Madras High Court yesterday, Maduravoyal Police Inspector V Tamilvanan opposed it stating she was absconding and the investigation was at preliminary stage.
But the judge hearing the case, shot back and rapped the cop by asking him ''Oh, really...was she not spotted inside the CoP office and at the office of the suburban CoP.'' The judge noted that Vanitha had been visiting various senior police officers and the media was following her and publishing news since the family feud came to light ten days ago.
The court also said if the cop's claim that his team was taking effective steps to arrest her could be taken at face value, then it meant he had generally lost all his sleuthing skills.
Police said there was feud in the family over assets worth crore owned by Vijayakumar.
